Kettlebell Single-Arm Shoulder Press

The single-arm kettlebell shoulder press trains the shoulder and triceps while the trunk resists side bending and rotation. The offset load makes a stable rack position and controlled overhead stack especially important.

Step by step

How to do the Kettlebell Single-Arm Shoulder Press

  1. Clean or safely bring a kettlebell into the rack position with the handle diagonal across the palm, elbow near the ribs, and wrist neutral.
  2. Stand tall with the feet about hip width apart, brace the abdomen, and keep the ribs stacked over the pelvis.
  3. Press the kettlebell upward in a slight arc until the arm is straight and the bell is balanced over the shoulder.
  4. Pause with the biceps near the ear, shoulder set down, and no lean away from the loaded side.
  5. Lower the kettlebell slowly to the rack position, reset the trunk, and complete the set before switching sides.
