Step by step
How to do the Pilates Spine Stretch Forward
- Sit tall on a mat with legs extended hip-width apart and feet flexed. Arms reach forward at shoulder height.
- Inhale to lengthen your spine. On exhale, tuck your chin and roll forward vertebra by vertebra.
- Round your spine into a C-curve and reach hands toward your toes without forcing them.
- Inhale into your back ribs in the stretch. Exhale to stack up one segment at a time to seated tall.
- Repeat with breath-led movement, keeping shoulders relaxed away from ears.
- Complete your reps and sit tall at the end.
