Step by step

How to do the Dumbbell Bench Press

  1. Sit on a flat bench with a dumbbell on each thigh. Lie back and kick the weights to the sides of your chest with palms forward or slightly angled.
  2. Pin your shoulder blades down and back; keep feet flat and a slight upper-back arch.
  3. Press the dumbbells up and slightly inward until arms are extended without locking hard.
  4. Lower under control to roughly chest level, keeping wrists stacked over elbows.
  5. Repeat without bouncing the weights at the bottom.
